A word from the CoCo's treasurer
Hi, everyone. I'm Peter Armstrong, and I'm now serving as treasurer for the newly elected CoCo board of directors. I thought I'd share a few introductory words about myself, then discuss CoCo's finances as well as some of our plans for 2021.
Starting to put the pieces together
Hello, everyone! As the first Chair of the newly elected Collins Coalition Board of Directors, I’m happy to share great news: The CoCo is now officially incorporated as a nonprofit organization!
The full story of why we founded the CoCo
We founded the Collins Coalition roughly one year ago, and by and large, we've sought to build a brand by harnessing positive energy. But the hard truth is that a lot of disenchantment with the status quo inspired the founding of the CoCo as well.
Introducing your new Board of Directors
Last month, we announced that the CoCo would hold its inaugural elections. Today, we’re introducing your newly elected Board of Directors and Executive Director! They serve one-year terms and will lead the CoCo as it grows and expands.
Presenting your 2020 Leadership Candidates
Eight players have registered as candidates to lead the CoCo. What you’ll find among their election platforms is a recurring theme of how special this community is and how the candidates want to nurture it. Read their full platforms and vote for your vision of Scrabble’s future.
Seeking candidates for the inaugural CoCo leadership elections
The CoCo is reaching an important milestone. For the first time, we are holding elections for our leadership positions. Every senior leadership position in the organization is up for election, and any CoCo member who resides in North America is eligible to run.
What’s next for the CoCo?
Now that the Virtual World Cup is in our rear-view mirror, we figure now is a good time to pause, step back, and take stock of everything. Building our organizational framework
In the days since we launched the CoCo, players have clamored for information about just about every aspect of the organization, and that’s a good thing. We have been tracking your comments and are working hard to catalog and respond to them in an organized way - all while working on other aspects of the CoCo that will be crucial to its success.
A word about inclusivity
The entire reason the CoCo exists is to give the people of this community the power to shape the game's future. If this effort is going to be successful, it's going to need support from everyone - and I very much hope that you will be one of them. Yes - you.
Get involved with the CoCo! Yes, you!
What we really want is to take this small group, build upon it, and turn it into a serious movement to advance the cause of North American Scrabble. That's an ambitious goal, I know - but it can be done. We just need a little help from you.
On the importance of being international
You know that Scrabble community that's so amazing? Turns out, it extends far beyond North America. If you're like me, and you feel truly at home among Scrabblers, then I've got good news for you: There's a whole wide world of them.
Why we founded the CoCo
The sad truth is that tournament Scrabble in North America is on the decline. As I see it, we as a community have two options - we can sit back and let the game atrophy until it eventually dies out, or we can do something. Now.
